Take Transit to Lagniappe and The Big, Bright Light Show in Rochester! What You Need to Know

Guides

Event detour diagram for Route 492 during Lagniappe. Temporary stops will be in service along Walnut from 5:30pm to 9:30pm.

For the first time, Route 492 will provide direct service to the event.

On Monday, November 25, take transit into Downtown Rochester for the 51st annual Lagniappe celebration and the first night of the Big, Bright Light Show! The lighting ceremony will take place at 7:00pm followed by a fireworks display. Additional festivities will be held along Main Street from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

For the first time ever, SMART Route 492 will be providing direct service to this event. Due to the closure of Main Street to vehicle traffic, buses will be on detour from 5:30pm until 9:30pm between University Drive and Second Street. The stop pair on University just west of Main will be out of service. Temporary stops will be in place along Walnut for riders traveling to the show: Northbound buses will stop along Walnut before University just past the north entrance to the parking ramp, and southbound buses will stop along Walnut past Fourth Street. Look for temporary SMART signs at these locations. Riders may also use the stops at Main and Second, which will remain in service during the event with the exception of the 7:05pm trip in each direction due to the closure of South Hill Bridge during the fireworks show. See attached map and consult the notices posted at stops on Monday night.

SMART fares are $2 for unlimited trips within a four-hour period. Pay with cash (exact fare required, change cards are issued) or by using the Token Transit app .

Visit the event website  and view the official service bulletin for more information.
